The history of our ski school in Churwalden
The Churwalden ski school has always lived from the joy of snow. Whether children, teenagers or adults - we pass on this enthusiasm and create unforgettable moments. We are like a small family. During the season, we do a lot together - on and off the slopes. Training sessions, ski tours, social evenings. At the end of the season, visits to the Grisons Championships and the Swiss Snow Happening are a must.

Our history
The Churwalden ski school can look back on a tradition of almost 100 years. What once started small is now a modern ski school with over 50 ski instructors - and a great passion for winter sports.
1934
Foundation of the ski school
The Churwalden ski school was founded in 1934 by Gustav Walti. At that time, it was still affiliated to the local tourism association and laid the foundations for professional ski instruction in the village.
1981-2006
Thomas Hemmi as ski school director
A phase of stability and continuous growth began with Thomas Hemmi. For over 25 years, he shaped the ski school with his experience and commitment.
2004
Independent limited liability company
After many years under the umbrella of the tourism association, the ski school became independent and continued to operate as a limited company - an important step for development and securing the future.
2007-2012
Jan Gubelmann takes over the management
Under Jürg's leadership, the level of teacher training and the organizational structures were also further professionalized, resulting in a lasting improvement in the quality of teaching.
2013
New colors and new head
With Jürg Riederer as ski school director, a breath of fresh air came into the ski school. In the same year, the team changed the colors of their suits - from yellow and blue to the striking red.
2014
Foundation of the demo team
The ski school's demo team was created. Since then, it has been impressing with its precise formation skiing during performances on the slopes and demonstrating what perfect teamwork on skis means.
2015
New office and growth
Another milestone was reached with the move into the office at the Portalbahn. At the same time, the future of the Pradaschier adventure mountain was secured and the ski school further expanded.
Since 2020
Gian Hitz at the top
With Gian Hitz as the current ski school director, the ski school focuses primarily on promoting young talent and team spirit. Today, the team comprises over 50 ski instructors.
